Dr Tom Cahill is a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital specialising in valve disorders, structural heart disease, and coronary artery disease. His expertise encompasses the full spectrum of transcatheter procedures for structural heart disease, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), transcatheter valve replacement, closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO), paravalvular leaks (PVL), atrial septal defects (ASD), and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO).
Dr Cahill graduated from the University of Cambridge (Queens’ College) with a double first and trained in clinical medicine at University College London. Following rotations in London and Oxford, he undertook general and specialist cardiology training at the John Radcliffe Hospital. He spent two years at the internationally-renowned Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, learning state-of-the-art approaches for transcatheter structural procedures. He has specific interests in clinical research and medical education, and in 2014-2017 completed a DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford focused on cardiac regeneration.
