You will need to take medication to thin your blood
This would be aspirin and possibly clopidogrel too.
This is necessary to prevent your blood clotting around the new valve. You will also be given painkillers that you can take until you no longer feel pain or discomfort from your wound.
You will be advised on exactly what medication you need to take and for how long when leaving hospital, and you’ll be given a letter to give to your GP.
